"Liking, following, linking, tagging, stumbling: social media is changing the nature of health-related interactions"

True!

As social creatures, social media has become a visceral way of communicating and continues to become more prevalent among business and industry. Social media has caught the attention of the healthcare industry and  is making its way into healthcare organization's business strategy. The highly regulated industry threatens the use of social media from concerns of breaches in protected health information. PwC Health Research Institute released a report which highlights the emerging relationships between consumers and health companies that serve them. It explains how consumers are using social media and describes the implications for healthcare organizations.

  1. I agree with your statement that social media is increasing healthcare conciseness in people’s lives. It is not just web med anymore, it is a combination of uses providing other users medical advice and also doctors having the ability on secure sites to virtually see their patients. This trend will continue as people’s lives become busier and self-diagnoses trends continue to increase. Your videos indicate this trend and the volume of many people search and communicate for and about medical issues.
Really, they just need to go see their doctor.

  2. Its said that when using social media companies cant control the message but can't only participate in the conversation. Using video to create awareness and share information is one way organizations can control content and provide a constant image.

An example of a successful social media campaign with the use of video is the Center for Disease Control and Prevention YouTube Channel which disseminates health education.
